Any help appreciated.

I stay near Pasiely in Scotland and am Keen to have a go at Carp fishing.

I fly fish all the time for Trout and would like to have a cast for Carp on the fly also.

Where in these parts can you cast a line for them?

Any tips etc appreciated

Cheers

There are load of waters in Scotland containing carp these days. If you have a quick look at www.scottishcarpgroup.co.uk they have a few waters for their members. If you don't fancy that then there are plenty of day ticket waters with half decent carp in them.

For local waters to you, i can only remeber a couple : Durrockstok pond and Mill pond. Durrockstok has produced 20's, while Mill has fish to approx mid doubles. The best news is that both are owned by the local council and are free!

Let me know how far you are prepared to travel and i will give you a list of waters that may suit.

  • 5 months later...

Hogganfield Loch has some really good carp, Lanark Loch if you dont mind a drive, Broadwood Loch in Cumbernauld, Monklands Canal in Coatbridge, Forth & Clyde Canal all hold fairly tough carp.

The ones at Hogganfield can be tempted into taking mixers so you`d maybe have a good chance with a deerhair `mixer` ??

cheers

skeetshoot,

as has been suggested allready check out www.magiscroft.co.uk when you go see ronnie and he will try his best to help you, there is also a fishery near newmills i belive that is also a trout place. then you have several places that i fish in fife and angus. only one of these used to allow regulars to have a pop at the bigger carp on the fly. are you chasing specimen fish or are you content catching match size carp? if you put some more info on your post i'll try and direct you closer to your quarry.

Duddingston Loch in Holyrood Park I think...

you need a permit from the park office ,and no commercial vehicle's in the park that have sign writing,

the union canal near broxburn /newbridge, aqua-duct over the almond

some there not many ,

1 or2 large ones at bangour trout fishery you would need to phone them to make sure there still in the water.

some one told me that they where to be removed.
