How much gear can we take on the aircraft my carp gear weighs quite a lot?

You must think about the logistics of a trip like this the only way in my opinion is to hire a large vehicle and drive the two day trip each way will be part of the fun. :sun:

Fishing seems to be my favorite form of loafing.

"Even a bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work."

I know the joy of fishes in the river through my own joy, as I go walking along the same river.

What do you think if the float does not dip, try again I think.

People fly all the time, you just have to cut it all down. I've flown to spain, USA and Africa to fish and never had any problems. About the only thing they need to provide is bivvies and perhaps some of the bank sticks and the like (oh and bait).

Hi you all ...

Sorry for such a long time with no news ...

I'll be going back there again next weekend and next week I'll give you the final info for this offer that, of course, still stands ...

I can tell you that it will be for 4 anglers max and for 3 days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), all at the same time (organize yourselfs) , and you should come to Lisbon Airport for me to pick you up and drive you to the place. I'll give you the dates soon. You should fly over on a Thursday evening and going back Sunday or monday morning.

If you want to stay by the water, I'll offer you Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner served at the bivvie, so no cost at all ...

If you want to sleep at the Rural Hotel you'll pay € 50,00 each per night and the food is on me ...

Things could be arranged so that I could supply you a Bivvie, a NASH bedchair and even some rods, banksticks, NASH baits, so on ... some at special rates, some for free ...

From the work I did on the previous session I can tell you that the North coast depth is on the 10' range at 70 to 100 yds distance.

Next weekend I'll go for the South coast where I thinks depths are in the 20' deep in the 30 to 40 yds distance.

I've seen some fish over 10 pounds but I believe there are a lot bigger carp in there ...

This weekend I'll fish for a bit and I'm going back there the 1st, 2nd and 3th December for a session with 5 more anglers (2 of them the current World Champions) to try and find out what kid of size and quantity fish we can set the hook on ...

Take care and ... I'll be back !!!

You can see some pictures of the place here

Hi all,

I'm just wondering if any of you guys would be a volunteer for a winter session in Portugal ...

You would only have to pay for the plain ticket to Lisbon or Faro and we would arranje to pick you up, transfer you to the Rural Hotel where you will be located some 500 yds away from a 1953, 60 Hectares lake, feed you (well) and give you drink (very well) and soacked/boiled seeds and even pre-bait a swim or two ...

Let me know your toughts about this offer ...

I'm beginning to wonder about the offer as here he say's this above and then say's this below

QUOTE(basshead07 @ Oct 30 2006, 04:41 PM)

would love to go but exactly how much is this going to cost?

As stated ... Just the plain ticket !!!

Still seems okay but then say's this.....

Now there is some cost coming into it and it makes me wonder if when you get out there you will suddenly find yourself with other costs to pay........i hope i'm wrong but it's making me wonder!

With my silken line and delicate hook,i wander in a myriad of ripples and find freedom!

Dear Carpstar ... (and you all)

Your thoughts are legitimate and I apologise for this mess ...

The thing is that the land owner said something and at the end it turned into something different ...

As stated I'll support the transfers, food and drink.

Let me go there this weekend and by next week I'll state the final rules as for the rooms (It's very possible I support them and that way it all comes to the first form ... no charges at all ...)

Of course that, if you want to travel lighter, i can have some NASH baits and/or tackle here waiting for you at special prices ... I never stated I offer the Boilies, Pellets, Hooks, Rods, Leads ...

I'll offer the seeds no doubt ...

If you want to stay by the water and not at the Hotel, I can arrange NOMAD 3 bedchairs and Bivvies for everyone, but I think it's fair I charge a little bit of money for the rental ... Or maybe I won't !!!

As I said, let me come back next week and I'll have dates and final proposal.

What I really aim for is for you guys to come over with no expense at all other than the flight ...

Rest assured that that is my goal and I'm fighting to get it for you!

Take care

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi you all.

So here is the final report / offer.

I'll take 3 volunteers for a free 3/4 night stay over in Portugal.

The dates should be;

- 12, 13, 14, 15 January 2007

or

- 26, 27, 28, 29 January 2007 ...

You must take a flight to Lisbon airport (all in the same flight).

Transfer to the fishing site, lodgement at the Rural Hotel, food + drink for your stay and the boilied seeds and Fishing Licenses are on me personally ...

So, If you're interested, send me an e-mail with the dates you wish to subscribe and let's see if by the 15th December we got all sorted out so that you can book your flights and start planning your trip ...

As stated I'm not offering the cigarettes, bait or any other tackle but, if you want to travel lighter, I can arrange some things over for free as well as some rentals or supply for any NASH items at a fair price.

At last I think all is clear now ...

e-mail: geral@carpasnacionais.com

P.S.: Carpstar, once again thanks for your post that made clear the situation ...

I thought you acually went fishing there - if so what were the results like ? I've done this sort of 'pioneering' stuff before only to be sold down the river fishing a water containing literally thousands of single and double figure carp. OK it cost me a lot me than what you're proposing but people like to see some transparency and disclosure of the catches ahead of times.

I'm in the fortunate postion of working for myself so can take pretty much time out I want to and this offer does look interesting, but I have to agree with Rob it would be a lot of effort if the lake turns out to be stuffed full of singles and low doubles, so would like some more detail of what we can expect to catch and what you have caught before before I am prepared to commit.

some other questions :-

How much for Bivvie Hire ?

How much for Bed chair hire ?

Will you pre bait, if so what with, how long and if there is a charge what would it be ?

Has the lake seen boilies if so what types ?

You say you will pay for food and drink, does that mean I don't have to pay for any meals ?

What transport are you providing (3 people with tackle is a lot of kit) ?

Will access to the lake be exclusive to the party ?

Is a boat available ?

What weather can we expect in that part of Portugal at that time of year ?

Many thanks,

Stuart

I did go there but match fished with my son and got something like over 50 carp (2lbs to 6lbs) on sweet Corn. I had 2 rods on Boilies but didn´t pay much attention to them, and still got 8 fish from (5 to 10lbs).

As stated I'll be going there the 1st, 2nd and 3th December with some of of the the National Team (2006 World Champions) to fish for real and try and find out what fish we set the hook on ...

It is my believe that there are Carp over the 30lbs mark in there ... But no proof of that!!!

The guard told me that his father used to fish there, over 20 years ago, and the biggest fish he caught was a

18,300Kg Carp ...

Anyway, I'll be reporting.

Now, aswering theese some other questions:

Q: How much for Bivvie Hire?

A: NASH Double Top 1 Man - € 20,00 / day

Q: How much for Bed chair hire ?

A: NASH Nomad 3 - 10,00 / day

Q: Will you pre bait, if so what with, how long and if there is a charge what would it be ?

A: If you want, yes. Mostly Boilied Corn & Wheat plus 20mm NASH Boilies ...

Q: Has the lake seen boilies if so what types ?

A: From me, Almost all flavours of NASB baits ... Been out there practicing the tube ...

Something over 50Kg (from me)

Q: You say you will pay for food and drink, does that mean I don't have to pay for any meals ?

A: That is correct. No charge at all for any meals (They're on me ...)

Q: What transport are you providing (3 people with tackle is a lot of kit) ?

A: I'll drive you in a Mercedes Vito 6 Seater ...

Q: Will access to the lake be exclusive to the party ?

A: Not exclusive but we can go places that are in private land so noone will come ...

Q: Is a boat available ?

A: A Pedal Boat for each if you want (and for free)

Q: What weather can we expect in that part of Portugal at that time of year ?

A: It's quite close to the Algarve. If it's raining it can be wet (but we have the Hotel as a Backup) and it should not be very cold, but if it's clear it will be cold during the night (4ºC to 8ºC) and during the day you can have something like 18º C / 20ºC :sun: ...

But this, my freinds, the weather in theese days is not ehat it used to be and I assume it's something I can't control ...

Any more questions ... feel free !!!
