Anyone else here recall a TV series in the early '70s called 'Angling Today' presented by Terry Thomas (not the comic actor)? Used to be on around 8am on Sundays if I remember correctly. Totally awesome in its day for a 12yr old lad.

I would love to watch all the episodes again but think they've been lost to the mists of time.

 

I do indeed BR but it was Saturday mornings :D I've tried searching for the programmes or even clips myself-not a sniff :( If you ever do stumble across any please let me know !!! I suspect you are right that they have been lost along the way.

If they were on film, then they were probably destroyed the same as "The Fishing Race" ones were.

 

Ian Gillespie's school may have a copy of the Fishing Race, I understood that he was given time off to take part on condition the school got a copy. If anyone can trace his school then they may be able to help.

there was a progam done some years back called the angling experience it was on channel 4 made in Ireland.it is still available 4 episodes in total.the episode on lough arrow fishing spent mayfly and the tying of same is by far the best piece of angling film I have ever seen.i have most of the classic angling films none comes near this.get a copy watch it then tell me I am wrong.

Years ago in Australia there was a bloke called Malcolm Douglas who made a series of fishing and adventure docos. For my money, his shows were far better than any I have seen. This bloke made 'Bear' Grylls look like a sad apology for a 'survivalist'.
