Is the Southern Colony Sustainable?

Bet you still dont pay what i do! My water and sewerage bill is just under a £1000 a year and it rains here!!!

WOW, your right no where near that,we dont have sewerage bills because we have septic tanks and i wouldnt complain about the increase in water costs if they spent the money on water issues.but like our road tax and fuel tax the money raised will be spent else where.A 1000 pounds is more than my rates and water combined.I feel much better now after reading that,i might even have a beer. :sun:

my mind not only wanders-- sometimes it leaves completely.

I don't care!! The day after I win the lottery, I will be at Australia House getting a visa to stay there permanently! (I have a brother-in-law who has given me a one acre plot!).

At least they don't have TWO wars running that are BANKRUPTING it!!

Clifftop,

In Sydney they are talking about selling off the State Lottery to finance the fixing of their water supplies!

http://www.smh.com.au/news/business/lotter...5685553888.html

Mr Debnam said the sale was necessary because the economy was sliding into recession and the Government was running out of funds to protect water supplies.

"We have a budget in crisis and we are in the middle of a water crisis. It is time for tough decisions. It is time to begin allocating resources to begin the drought-proofing task."

And it's not just water that the drought hits, it's electricity generation too

So, where is the block of land, mate?

We have a few troops in 11 other countries, keeping the peace.

As Australia is the driest continent on Earth, most of the wildlife has adapted to the environment, many, many years ago..... they could not adapt to the farmers clear felling for more land. Now, the various state governments are implementing "trees on farms". The SE of Western Australia has a very big salt problem, due to land clearing and more salt is rising in the NSW wheat belt and Riverina district, due to land clearing.

Have not heard anything regards Qld.

We (central coastal Qld) have had only half our annual rainfall over the past 3 years and 39 local council areas have been drought declared.

They have about 25 hectares of land on the outskirts of Victoria! I just want out of a place that claims the NHS is the best medical care in the world when it isn't! (I fell in February, didn't see the consultant and have a scan until November - and when they saw the scan, offered me a "new shoulder"??????????? They KNOW I am a 24/7 carer so they are going to use keyhole surgery NEXT YEAR to repair the damage) They claim the the education is the best - and it stinks! All we hear over here are LIES to make up taxes to try and satisfy their GREED!

I like that statement, no offence mate, but Victoria is about 1.5 times as big as England.......]:yeah:

At the moment, Vic is going through one of it's worst bushfire years ever.

Bobj - I know about that mate, I lived in South Africa for a long time. When I came back, it took about 3 months for me to stop walking about with my shoulders hunched, I could not BELIEVE such small houses!

I owned (and let) a small 500 hectare farm in Rustenburg. I think I would buy some land when we got there.

My B.I.L. phones regularly and said that it's a "bit smokey" there at the moment, but I have seen bushfires before!
