Still here, not been about at all really and don't think I will be going the Test this year. Other things happening, working on the house, getting my garage sorted to accept a kit car, reconditioning suspension and brake parts for my kit car. All this on top of working.

Been a very busy chap and things won't be getting any quieter for a while. I have even let the fishing slip, to the extent that I have hardly been at all. I may try and get to the Test, just depends what will be happening nearer the time.

I dont know what to do about Timsbury this year.I too have fished very little. If my bruv fancies it I may go but dont think I will bust a gut. If I do I will most likely be joining Anderoo after one of its big roach.

Biggest problem is that the Slow carrier has to be just right (colour/condition wise) to give you a chance at the roach (IMO) and so its a bit hit and miss. The grayling fishing there doesant really do much for me due to the low average size. But we will see.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

I was watching Mick Brown and Matt Hayes fish at Timsbury yesterday, on a youtube vid - brought back some memories of last year with all the rain! They managed a few roach from the slow carrier, but it was very coloured. I really think that the main river is a better bet for the roach. Last year was a write-off, but I'd love to fish the same area this year in good conditions. Jigotai sent me a photo of some roach from the main river that his mate caught - I hope he doesn't mind me putting it up here:

Would you look at those! :o

As for the grayling, they're fun but small. The grayling fishing is nothing compared to the Itchen. However, I don't think I've ever fished anywhere quite as beautiful as Timsbury (the Lower Itchen Fishery was very plain really), it always feels special to be there.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

Just looking at their (greatly improved) website, apparently you're allowed to use fly gear for the coarse fish! Wahaay!

Cheat :P
