They are there as part of the GHQ line a line of defence set up in WW2 using natural and unnatural things to make invasion difficult

Yes, farther south we had the "coastal defence line" and inland of that the "Ouse-Rother line" The "GHQ line" was the next one to the north.

I asked the local army camp if I could have a Bren gun and some ammunition if the invasion came, but apparently the high command had decreed that 7-year olds should remain undefended :)

Hitlers atlantic wall was more impressive (and probably ours would have been as ineffective ) he cottoned on very early if he couldnt get here we and the allies would soon be going there!

The ghq line was fairly strong here as theres only two places tanks can cross ,apart from waverley abbey (which had anti tank ditches as well as the river) upstream from sheephatch lane is marsh bordered by enscarpments and the same downstream from the single bridge until you get to the next village to the north is aldershot which ofcourse was heavily fortified and protected from the north by the canal ,once you got past tilford its easy going although spiggot mortor polnts keep getting found theres one very near the film place at bourne woods

A fraction over 1gb

I tried squishing using handbrake to 600 mb but it made it all blocky the camera has problems with low light anyway which makes it grainy as it is ,fine in the open infact great in the open but in auto it overcompensates and makes dark areas darker

The original 15 minute saves look great but start to degrade once movie maker joins them up and saves it

At my upload speed of 40kb it takes a day or more to upload anything and at 1.2 mb ages to get something down ,the problems of living in the sticks
