Pottery bird - ID help please

A friend is trying to get a pair of birds listed for sale. She is moving to another country soon and is getting rid of almost all her possessions.

 

The female looks like a quail to me but the male has some distinctive features that I can't place. Any help would be great.

pheasants. looks just like the one that just came out of a hedge in from of my car a couple years back.
