Barry,

In the US?

Anywhere from one to unlimited depending on where you are. For example, New Jersey has a "9 hook" rule (on 9 rods if you wish).

Missouri, my home state, allows 3 - licensed or unlicensed - But if you are breathing you can have "poacher poles" (which are rods).

I forgot to add in the first post - active military are exempt in almost every state.

Phone

(didn't I just tell you "don't ask" - ha ha - ask away)

Edit: forgot to answer your question - in some states it is indeed 16 but most 12. They are a "person" and treated as though they have a license. All other rules apply - the answer 2. Ohh - in some states a "licensed angler" cannot tend the rod. In the states where fishing is HUGE $$$$ (like Minnesota) you would do well to bring your newborn triplets - you can "help" them fish 1 rod apiece.

I overheard in the tackle shop yesterday that EA officers checked the Linear waters on the final day of the season last year and prosecuted several people who had no god licenses - kinda funny to think they got away with it for the whole season only to get nicked on the final day :D

I hope they were not CofE ;)

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Just bought mine, have been buying it online for a long as they've been doing it (I think) and never had any problems with it turning up. That said once it's arrived it tends to stay in the envelope for 6 months. I'd say I forget it 90% of the time.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just renewed mine and the wife's online and, for the first time in many years (at least for ever time I've purchased online) didn't have any issues and was able to buy both first time without a hitch.

They seem to have sorted themselves out with their website at last and actually made it customer-friendly - and not before time, they have made me swear at my computer more than any other site.

Creeps up every year though and at £27 is this still value for money?

Our chief weapon is surprise

Umm - paying by DD mine arrived with a fortnight to spare - thing is another one dropped through my letter box today - so I now have TWO rod licences - just checked my bank statement - they've only taken the money out once!

Renewed mine at the post office. Received a receipt immediately that I could use the same day, and the licence arrived a week later. Bought a book of stamps, the latest Sky at Night magazine and a box of chocolates whilst in there.

Sorted :D
