Ever Been Bitten By A Chub?

Yes all cyprinids have them its one of their identifying features.I should imagine the ones in chub are so pronounced as theyve got such a big gob! Im not sure if they are bone or cartilidge though? A Carps pharyngeal teeth can certainly bite through nylon and dacron so I wouldnt have thought they were that soft. I seem to remember they are a modified gill raker?

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

I have witnessed this first hand, many moons ago a friend of mine wanted to check how much of his loose feed had been gorged by one of the Chub he had caught as he was feeding heavily but the fish had no visible signs of any hemp or casters so he thought he would have a poke around with his finger to try and make it spew up the contents of it`s stomach, laugh I neary s**t myself

Chub can bite...one bit me, or at least tried to squash my finger tip when I put it down chubs throat to retrieve my hook.

Sorry Tigs, but it has happened to me, and it damn well hurts.

I've had a ling clamp down on my fingers when I was trying to retrieve a muppet. That was quite a powerful action but it doesn't surprise me at all. Ling eat crabs, lobsters and all manner of crunchy animals.

What's up with you all......your all wimps....... .........or maybe I've got thick skin :D

It is weird though as I've squashed my fingers round in several chubs throats feeling for their nashers and never had a nip unless they don't like the taste of me

Just shows they've no taste

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.
