Thanks from Charles Rangeley-W? Accidental Angler TV

Recommended Posts

I would just like to add to the many posts already here, by saying that my impressions after the first programme were not altogether positive and as stated elsewhere I did not like it.

After this weeks programme I have to admit it is growing on me, a huge improvement IMO, and though still a little short on fishing content for my liking, overall I enjoyed it, and look forward to the next programme.

Finally, thank you Charles for taking the trouble to read the acclaim and the criticism and respond through the forum.

Our perception of time as an orderly sequence of regular ticks and tocks has no relevance here in the alternative dimension that is fishing....... C.Yates

Yet another watchable travell and adventure programme, i'm glad you concentrate on fishing and not just catching, thanks Charles.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Last night's programme just went to show how planned fishing trips often go wrong. It is annoying when you get to a river and find it up and unfishable. Imagine that when you have travelled all those miles and hours and spent the money getting there and on the film crew etc. So near and yet so far from your destination for a couple of days and then when you do get there the fishing is pretty average to say the least. I think I may have sworn somewhat. How Charles apparently managed to keep his cool is amazing really, I am a very patient person but I don't know how I could have coped with the frustrations of that trip. Perhaps he would tell us what he was really thinking!

Puts it all into perspective really.

Yes I enjoyed last nights as well.I liked the living with the locals bit and thought it was good to show the US style lodge but then dump it in favour of the more grass roots aproach. To many people miss out on so much by "travelling" in an artificial way glad you showed the "proper" way to do it!

Just one critisism Charles if your still looking in.You really need to make an effort to learn (and use) a few basic words of the language of the country you visit.Just simple Please and Thankyou,Hello and Goodbye. Its amazing how much better you are recieved like this and also there is nothing worse than comming over as the typical "Brit abroad" by just raising your voice to make the locals understand!

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Last night's was the most enjoyable from my perspective, as it had much more fishing in it :).

What's going on with the editing though? The earlier programs had some editing where scenic views were only flashed up for a few seconds, last night's had a segment in the first half when some views of the river and large boats were shown so quickly you hardly saw them. Annoying and serving no purpose!

I'd also ditch the repetitive "Will I find Mr X in a country where I don't speak the language" segment. Try telephoning him next time!

admit last night that i stayed with the programme for the duration, and it was okay, not gushing over it like some people, but it was an enjoyable enough programme.

the only thing that i would say is this. somehow along the way the whole series so far has left me somewhat feeling a bit cheated. Why?

well all the hype in the weeklies and on the net was of a "new" fishing programme on terrestrial.

to that end i feel let down, because i dont think it matches any of those descriptions.

yes there is some fishing in it, but lets face it, not very much and of in the case of the last two episodes, very limited appeal.

"new" well i dont think its that either, just a more produced version of jungle hooks, only visiting different countries rather than the one.

Its not a new format, just really a travel programme with a bit of fishing in it. so who is the expected audience?

the angler?

well as someone who watches just about anything to do with the sport, its a bit off target for me.

The traveller?

they wouldnt really want what little fishing there is.

no to me it seems a bit off the mark and i really fail to see what people are so gushing over it for. i like the presenter, i think he does a good job and certainly has a talent in that area. But if i want a travel programme, i will watch one, though to me its a bit like porn. okay to watch for a while, but you cannot beat the real experience :P:P:P:P:P

I said in my last post i was expecting at least a 50/50 mix of fishing and travel for this type of programme and that's certainly what we got.....Well done! This one was easily the best upto now even though i'm not all that bothered about fly or lure fishing, i think that there was a good mix of everything in this one and i hope next weeks is even better.

Charles you have a good eye for the ladies mate :thumbs:

With my silken line and delicate hook,i wander in a myriad of ripples and find freedom!
