Where in the UK would you most like to have a weekend fishing?

Mark Quinney's topic about Redmire on the carp forum has prompted this question.

Firstly where now, and secondly where and when in the past?

Now?

Any southern chalkstream would suit me now. Fishing for coarse fish. Or a long lost carp lake on a private estate.

Past?

Redmire! :P

Sometime in June............... 1980.............. in the shallows...............

Or I wouldn't mind fishing with 'BB' at the old copper mine. Not sure I'd fancy fishing there by myself! :2:

The best time to fish is when you have a chance.

when i didnt habe a care in the world and every trip had three days of sorting tackle before.

everytime i catch a fish i'm lucky when i blank i'm a hopeless angler.

Wingham is actually quite high on my Wish list, Although having "done" Redmire thanks to Glenn (spindle) arranging the best weekend fishing I've ever had for me! I think top of my list would be the Royalty. I'd love to catch a barbel from one of the famous Royalty swims!

How about sorting that one out for me too Glenn?

What a question Steve! for once Im struggling to answer!

At first I was greedy and thought of big fish venues in their heyday! Redmire maybe pre 70's? or the Wensum when it was coughing up 2lb Roach left right and centre! Llandegfedd on the first trials again but this time get it right! It goes on and on!

But then I read Terry T's post and thought of some of the waters of my youth and that great sense of anticipation that I felt back then.Oh to fish a weekend on some of them knowing what I know now! Or out of nostalgia just one last weekend on my old syndicate water back in the late 80's pre saltwater floods and dreaded jetskis, just to be there and apreciate what I was going to loose just one last time? In fact I would quite happily die after that.

Then again a days mullet fishing with the Rother Mulleteers on the Rother back in the 70's would be good! I cant make my mind up.

The present or future? Dont know really. At the moment the only water Ive got any interest in at all is Steve's Wingham coarse lake which I hope to be fishing in the next few years. As those of you who have been there will know a magical place without even considering the extremely high quality of the fish.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!
