Floating anchor

Hi there, i am new to this and wouold like to know what weight anchor is advisable for kayak fishing , I have seen 0.75kg, 1.5kg and up.??????

I've tried them both and prefer the 1.5s because you've got a better chance of holding bottom when offshore,if you just want one for estuaries the.75 will do,don't forget you'll need a length of chain between rope and anchor

Team Ocean Kayaks U.K.

The ones at Towsure are 3.2 kilo folding grapling irons. They might be a touch heavier than necessary, but they are not too unwieldy.

They also sell a ready made anchor, rope, buoy, kit for £20, but the anchor seems a bit light for my liking.

Remember too to get at least three times the amount of line for the depths that you intend to fish. You can get a suitable line winder from B&Q - it's called a cable tidy.

While you are in B&Q get a pack of pipe collars for 69p. These fit around your paddle just above the point where they naturally enter the water, and stop water from running down your arms. Fit them back to back a few centimetres apart, run some silicone sealant into the gap then squeeze them together and wipe off the surplus silicone.
