This news is a real wrench. I always enjoyed reading Argyll's posts and considered him a gentleman and friend. I'm very sorry to hear this.

Argyll was amongst the first to welcome me on here and stood up for me when I had a bit of an arguement with one of the big names in fishing.

He was amongst the first to join the Indian fishing forum and when I asked about tackle shops in London, not only did he provide me with two links but offered to get the tackle and deliver it to the hotel my parents were staying at. This from a man who did not know me at all.

It was only yesterday that I was cleaning out my Inbox and deleted both his PMs and he passes away on the very same day!

My condolences to his family and friends.

I know Gerry was very respected and had a lot of friends on Anglers Net, and its therfore with a very sad heart I'm letting you all know that Gerry passed away this afternoon at King Hospital in London.

My thoughts is with his family & friends.

This is very very sad news to hear, I was looking forward to fishing with Gerry again this summer up on the broads in Charlie's boat. I remember fishing with him a couple of years ago on the Yare and I missed a take, Gerry cast his lure in and pulled out an 18lb. I learnt so much from Gerry the times I was privileged to go fishing with him. He was always willing to help anybody out, myself included.

RIP Gerry, gone but not forgotten.
