my first choice would be a booby on a fast sink line and a short leader if allowed. Some places have banned them cos they are not suitable for catch and release as the fish tend to swallow them.

Goldhead bloodworm always worth a chuck.Fish them really slowly.damsels worked yesterday for me,again slow retreive and fairly deep, having said that we did get takes on the drop-and it was a damn cold day.

Buzzers and diawl bachs will still catch, infact most flies should still work in the cold, just slow things down and fish deeper if its really cold, but bear in mind the fish will move higher in the water with a rise in temperature.

I seem to almost exclusively use 2 flies when the weather is cold, A long tailed olive damsel on a sinking line, twitched eratically close to the bottom, or a heavy cat's whisker (any line, floating, sinking or intermediate) fished with a bit more pace when the fish are more active. Of course when these are failing I have lots of flies in reserve. Boobies are excelent, fished popped up, close to the bottom on a fast sinking line, though this style of fishing does bore me sensless :)

But fishing is mad, that's why I love it. The other day all I could get takes on was a large gold head daddy stripped though the swim as fast as humanly possible :)
