A fine fishing vessel

That reminds me of three boys who fished from a similar boat in the western Solent. They were well down the tideway before being rescued just short of the Needles by a charter boat.

I wasn't on the charter, but my mate Pete Grundel was.

He described it as "three lunatics put to sea in a coffin"

I can see what he meant......

Rescue? They should have let natural selection do it's work.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Certainly got a spirit of adventure :) just a bit daft having no lifejackets though.

Thinking back a number of years, I used to fish Sundridge lake, probably 40ft deep, from one of the home made punts(?) with no life jacket and I can't swim either...............sometimes you just don't think.

I also made a very small punt to get me across to an island in a large gravel pit..................................

How do you punt on a lake that's 40' deep?

You use a fifty foot long pole.

Silly me.

We used to holiday in Devon when I was a lad and there was an old boy there that would take himself out fishing almost every day in a home made marine ply boat of about eight feet with a little Seagul engine on the back. He'd done it for years for about eight to ten weeks a year.

AFAIK, he never had a problem.
