I forgot how much stuff you have to take for a coarse fishing overnighter, good job we have a SUV. I am used to a bag,

a couple of rods and a landing net.

Unlike the rest of the south-east it's been bitterly cold at Wingham the last few days with a biting NE wind. It's forecast to be a little warmer for the next 4 days as the wind dies down, but still much lower temperatures by day, but warmer at night than further inland.

On Friday right through the fish-in it's forecast to remain on the cool side with a few showers. However the wind is swinging round to the SW so hopefully that'll improve the fishing!

Here's links to local weather sites: http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/03797.html?&MR=1 and http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2633821.

not seen that site before ,being able to choose stations shows how the weather varies over a short distance ,whilst were not on the list the next village one way is 16c the other 11c! both less than 2 miles away

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

Its far easier to curse the darkness than light one candle

Dave, whilst there's certainly some variation between sites a few miles apart, another reason for differing results is that most of these sites are amateur ones and therefore may not be that accurate.

In interpreting the weather forecasts you also have to take into account the lie of the land, how far you are from the sea, time of year, and the direction of the wind. For instance Manston Airport is nearer the coast and higher up than Wingham. It's therefore cooler by day but warmer at night when we have a NE wind off the sea at this time of year.

For tracking showers this site is very useful as it gives a 3 hour forecast in 15 minute intervals: http://www.meteox.co.uk/h.aspx?r=&jaar=-3&soort=loop1uur. Very useful for avoiding getting wet when packing up!

We have a microclimate here in tilford ,its not only an a valley its also surrounded by a second set of hills (the hogs back on one side and hindhead and the devils jumps on the other) so the pond appears to remain frozen longer where the cold air sinks and stays longer

I know what you mean - I've spent a couple of evenings getting stuff ready, every year I forget just how much stuff is needed for session fishing!

Looking forward to it though, I'm now indulging in the annual weather watch...

I have got to say we are looking forward to it, Sue is there as well, though she seems to have reservations about Coarse fishing; hopefully, it will get us back into it and I cannot think of a better place than Wingham to do that.

Looks useful, thanks Steve.

I've just updated my weather underground app on my phone, and it says 'pinpoint any location, because sometimes you want the weather for a specific Burning Man tent, not the Black Rock city center'. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds potentially useful for fishing (if it works!).

As you may have seen the Carp Lake has just produced a brace of commons of 51-15 and 44-10. These were caught in the teeth of a bitterly cold NE wind! Fish were crashing out as I left late afternoon.

The Main Lake is also slowly coming to life with up to 11 tench at a sitting.

With a change to SW winds on Friday it's looking promising..........
