Fist Whip or Pole

If your going to get one 11 metres or more, make sure you can get it set up and check the drop and the weight. Most good shops will have some already setup. I got an 11 metre one and its far to heavy for me and I'm no weakling, there's also about 1.5 metre drop on it. I hardly ever use it apart from margin fishing.

Take nothing but photo's.

Leave nothing but footprints.

Kill nothing but time.

hi

now i have been using a middy elaticated whip for the last six months or so and have found it a V. useful tool once i got used to it (like all these things it takes practice) the one i brought is a telescopic job and came with three top ends one a solid carbon flick tip the other two where elasticated a mid strength 7/8 i think the other is i belive a16 and is said to control fish to double figures but as yet i have not been able to try it. the lighter lacy handles fish to two and hlf pounds+ quite nicely though. and best of all i got through bennetts of sheffield for a little over £20.00 including p+p

Dear All,

Thinking of buying a whip or pole. I've never used either.

Would it make sense to start with a whip of say 7m to see if I like it, or go for a pole of say 11 - 13m?

I will be using it mainly for still water near home which holds everything - silverfish to 3lb, carp to 40lb

Can you recommend particular whips and poles and what else i need.

Is there a good book or dvd for beginners on poles?

Thanks for looking

Happy New Year

Hi all,

Following all your advice

I have bought a Daiwa Connoisseur S110 & S125E extension

with a couple of extra top kits.

It's in excellent condition 11m - 12.5m 595g @ 11m

Price £165

I cant find any info on the net about it.

Anyone know when it was made, price, etc.?

Thanks for your help. Paul.
