Sleeping bag recommendations

My old army surplus sleeping bag has pretty much had it now after many years of abuse, so I need a new one. What I'm looking for is something that's warm to at least -5 (it'll be used in cold weather as well as warm), fleece/similar lined, crash zips, breathable and ideally not too big physically.

Any recommendations?

My combination set is a Khyam VSS 600, 800 and ultra light bivi (waterproof). They fit inside each other and give a comfy night's sleep down to -10! I've used it in (varying combinations) conditions varying from +40C (Kalahari) to -8C (Welsh Wales) in tents, hammocks, under bashas and in the back of the Land Rover and it has been brilliant. I've had mine for about 12 years. Super lightweight, they compress to a tiny roll in the stuff-sacs and the quality (of mine) is fantastic, good zips, no fraying etc, no compaction of lining!

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

Err, a good question, I had a look and can't see any labels on mine....I assumed it was a man-made fibre but possibly naturlal filler so have always handwashed at a cool temp and air dried!

I can't recommend from experience but if a military bag has been good enough for several years, why change? My local surplus store has a decent range - including the current British issue bags.

I have been using one of these for a good few years.

The advantage over other "military" bags is that they have very good crash zips for a rapid exit at 03.00
