I'll post again about an excellent alternative to the polaris float although I suspect most of you will dismiss it without much thought. The "bobber with a brain" from http://bigtentackle.com/ is outstanding.

 

It looks so large and gross and American that your first impression will be that it is much too insensitive for UK style fishing. Based on the way it is designed and the way it is rigged that is not the case. The slightest tap will cause the bobber to twitch and sway enough to be easily seen. Added advantage is that with a light stick on top, it is great for night sessions as well.

 

Excellent for use with a braid mainline like powerpro.

 

Note that to date, I have had two very experienced UK anglers laugh at it, try it, and end up liking it well. Since only two have fished with me in NC and used it, .....

It does look a little erm unusuall Newt!! Actually I`m speechless it does look terrible,but it must work.!!

 

Lots of ideas again though,at the min I`m using a set up pretty much as Den say`s,waggler 31/2 AAA bead and stop knot and dropper shot.Was just looking to improve on this.
