Sorry, another bivvy thread

Weight isn't an issue Steve but I've just discovered that getting a large bedchair into my car definitely is, it has a lousy boot aperture of about 90cm whichever way I measure it and through the passenger door isn't much better. Would you mind measuring the width of the Wide Load between the camlocks? It looks a lovely comfy bed but I don't want to have to buy a new car just to get a decent nights kip.

Thanks

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

No chance I'm afraid, Chris, it's almost 100cms wide. There's a smaller version though, the Super Flat Deluxe 6 leg at 80cms wide. I've guessing it's the same strength but in view of Andrew's problem I suggest you check with Eric's.

Steve, no need to feel guilty, certainly not your fault! It could have just been a dodgy one.

Rusty one consideration about the bivvy is weight, if you can drive to your swim or its only a short walk then no problem, but if you have to walk/barrow any distance, a big heavy bivvy is not the way to go.

When I was looking around for a bivvy a few years ago it was mainly for wingham, which involves long walks to swims, which was the main reason I settled on the a-lite.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

Chris, just had a thought. My 8 leg may be narrower when folded and on its side. I'll measure it for you tomorrow.

Is a built in ground sheet really a red line because if not there are some really cracking bivvys around the 300 pound mark. I can see why a porch is a must and to be honest i did not know how useful this would be when i got my JRC one but overall i am happy with it. Have a look at the Fox traveller no built in ground sheet but does have one that velcros round to give added protection.

take a look at my blog

Thanks Peter, the Nash globetrotter one looked pretty good so that's on its way to me, I liked the mesh capsule idea and nobody else seems to make one like that. I'm now researching bedchairs and sleeping bags which will fit into a Volvo C30...oh and then I need a separate chair because apparently bedchairs are no longer used as chairs, they're just beds. 48 hours ago everything I needed for a days fishing would fit in my wicker creel, I now want to fish overnight so have to spend more than the cost of my parents' first house.

Chris, the Venture Wide Load is 83cms long when folded but 104 cms wide. Depth is 40cms. Hope that helps.

One downside I forgot to mention about the Titan Globetrotter is that you can't have the rear vents open when it's raining as I could with my Double Top as you'd get wet.. This is due to the shape of the back that's curved rather than flat.

Head Bailiff, Terry, worked out how to stop the overwrap coming off in the wind though. Simply pet it out slightly further back and separate it more from the inner capsule than I originally had it. Start the overwrap with the porch struts but then peg out from the back working forward. Together this keeps the overwrap taut.

One thing I do like about the overwrap is that you can fold it forward giving shade to just the front of the bivvy and the porch.
