Old bread as bait

Old bread does not stay on the hook very well. If you wanted to use the crust as a floater, you could perhaps steam it. Otherwise, probably best using it for groundbait or to make bread paste.

Never tried toasting it!

 

Bread is pretty cheap, though, better off using a nice fresh loaf. You could always use that for hookbait and use the stale bread for loose feed.

I never bothered with old bread but letting it dry and putting it in a coffee grinder to mix with ground bait or liquidising and using it aloneit makes a cloud thats bread flavoured (or smell) but doesnt fill the fish up and a pinch on the hook really works when bread alone is slow
