schooling carp

I've seen this on commercial carp waters, groups of maybe 20 carp swimming around on the surface. The groups were mainly the smaller carp, the bigger fish generally swam in either very small groups or by themselves. I had never seen this before though either until this year.

Fish were spawning in my local lake last week. During the previous couple of days I had fish follow hooked ones all the way to the net.........................

Doesn't have to be a commercial, it is, and always has been, quite normal behaviour for carp to gather in large numbers at this time of year. One complex I used to fish, there were two lakes seperated by a wire mesh grille. The carp used to gather on one side trying to get through to fish on the other side. Once swawning was over, they would disperse....some never to be seen again until the next spring :)
