WOW! The Wye.....

OTIB

Recommended Posts

Never seen her in better trim, fished yesterday for a load of Barbel and must have counted at least 40 Salmon leaps..... river has a wonderful diversity of wildlife to observe, so not just about the fishing. Streamer weed is more than ever on the shallows, how lucky am I to have this River on my doorstep?

Conversely, I fished the Severn yesterday and didn't have a bite. The river was tea coloured and has rather suspiciously dropped 4cm in the last 24 yours which indicates a midweek release of dam water.

Ah yes, The Wye, Gwy in Welsh, Vaga in Latin. "The wandering Wye"

Nice to have a river as a namesake.

I fish it but rarely, yet it has yielded some good fish to me.

Had a cracking 4 days in the opening week of the season, lots barbel and in the most stunning locations. Like you said OTIB some amazing wildlife, a very special river indeed!
