Chris Plumb 473
Is he the man of all records miniature? Yup - Dennis Flack currently holds the Bitterling, Bleak & Stickleback records. Waterlog did a nice piece on him some years back focussing on his (still unsuccesful) quest to get the British Dace record. The man has caught well over 100, 1lb+ dace in his lifetime! C. Andy Macfarlane 58
If it's 1lb+ Dace he wants, he should be fishing the lower reaches of the White Cart round Paisley Watermill or Loch Lomond/Leven at Balloch. Folk may scoff but if I wanted a big Dace, that's where I'd be spending my time. ¤«Thʤ«PÔâ©H¤MëíTë®»¤ Click HERE for in-fighting, scrapping, name-calling, objectional and often explicit behaviour and cakes. Vagabond 1013
Vagabond, in all seriousness, what do you reckon they actually weigh?

Rather less than an ounce, I'm sorry to say. I think I estimated Chris's at 14 drams - and at a rough guess, yours at around 12. (That's avoirdupois drams, 16 to the ounce) Tiddler weights are almost always over-estimated, even by experienced anglers. There must be hundreds of people who claim to have beaten the gudgeon record of 4 oz, but "didn't bother to weigh it" It usually turns out to be "nearly eight inches long" That's a big gudgeon - and at around two ounces, about half the record weight. Thanks Vagabond, they're obviously tricky little characters to put a weight to! Still, it just about quadrupled by previous PB... Now, where did I put my stickleback tackle...? Vagabond 1013
Bullheads are also called Millers Thumb's right? Right, and down here in Sussex in the 1940s they were called "Liggies" It's years since I have heard them called that - has anyone else heard that name? Later Just found this Liggy - North East of England (Geordie) local expression for a "Marble" (Small Glass Ball) Used when playing marbles. Example taken from local song "Wor Geordie's lost his Liggy" Edited October 3, 2008 by Vagabond RNLI Governor World species 471 : UK species 105 : English species 95 .
