I'm about 23 stone and have used the JRC Classic for the last 4-5 years without any problems. I do believe they do a longer leg version which might be better.

I have only ever used it on short (5-8 hours) river sessions though, not really a long stay angler.

Tight Lines,

I am around 21 Stone and have been as big as 26 Stone. I have had a Fox Recliner for years with out trouble, I totally trust this chair. For more of an upright position I have a chair very similar to the Coleman Captain's Chair (with a folding table on one side and pockets on the other), again, I have absolute faith in this design.

Oh, and incase anyone might be interested, I finally found a camp bed that can handle me: Outfitter XL Cot. It is truly massive and strong.

Had one of the origonal Fox Bivvy Brds (cost £250 back then would you believe!) and Im often weighing in at 25+ one of the eyelets has ripped out but in general its been good. (got it in 91/92?)and its seen a lot of use

Chairs though Im still struggling! The JRC Coccoon takes my weight and is comfortable but is just as bulky as some bedchairs to pack/ carry!.My cheap Fladden one hasnt seen a lot of use (maybe 50+ trips but hasnt broke but is still that little bit low for me even with the legs extended.Tried a Nash Daddy Long legs,great......but collapsed/buckled after one night. When I was guiding I had a couple of the real cheap Badger ones for my clients and these took my weight and at the oprice I got them for it didnt really matter if I onkly got a season or two out of them! Didnt have any problems with "normal" guys on them though.Still looking really but in the mean time the old bait bucket still fits my needs best!

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

I used one of the cheap badger ones for the last couple of seasons, but the frame started going rusty, and for the money it lasted well, but this season my wife bought me the JRC terrry hearne chair for my birthday, and although I've only been using it for a couple of months I'm very impressed, it weighs about the same as the badger one, although is a little more bulky due to the seat being wider. But it is far more comfortable for longer sessions. Sometimes I struggle to stay awake in it :)

FWIW I'm also around that magic 25 stone mark, and have got through quite a few fishing chairs in my time ;-)

I had the JRC cocoon chair, eventually the bolts whcih set the rake of the recliner broke in the end, after a lot of heavyweight = ;-) = use. This year, in part due to wifey error ( the picture in the fishtec cataloge was next to the wrong code) I got the Terry Hearn Specialist X-Lite chair.

After 6 months it seems to be coping with my immense bulk quite nicely and it weighs so much less than the cocoon.
