The 1500 anglers competing in this years angling festival at Whitby are haveing a great time. To date no time has been lost to weather and the fishing has been exceptional, as it has been all year. There are masses of codlings on the east coast between 2 and 7 pounds and fair sprinking of cod going into double figures. Yesterday saw an angler land 3 cod all over the 10 pound mark the biggest going 15 pounds which takes the lead in the festival cod section. Currently leading the festival overall is Mike Bess with a ling of 20 pounds 8 ounces. With 5 more days to go and the best of the tides yet to come this could well be beaten before the festival ends.
