Tigger 705
I'm really hoping this works. I've never got into the crucian thing but a nice little tench lake not too far from me would be great, maybe rudd too. One of the clubs i'm a memeber of got a water that's pretty local to me and it was a superb ready made tench and crucian water. Next thing (suupposadly just before the club took it over) an anus of a person took it upon himself to improve the fishing (for him and other like minded rectums) by introucing 13 small wels cats (after only 3yrs the cats are coming out at 14lb ! ). Amazingly the EA gave the club a license to keep the invasive sluggs so now they're legally free to munch out all the tench, cru's etc etc with the backing of the wonderfull EA ! IMO this is typical of the majority of anglers...all the gear but no idea...same goes for the EA ! As you can probably tell i'm more than a little annoyed by the whole thing.

poledark 50
Hi Chris, carefully weighed in front of several witnesses, mostly pretty experienced anglers. All agreed it was a crucian and it weighed 4lb 1oz Den "When through the woods and forest glades I wanderAnd hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees; When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,And hear the brook, and feel the breeze;and see the waves crash on the shore,Then sings my soul.................. for all you Spodders. https://youtu.be/XYxsY-FbSic
Chris Plumb 474
What was the British Record at the time? C. "Study to be quiet." ><((º> My Blog
Vagabond 1013
the record at the time ? It wouldn't be around the time that the same fish held both the Crucian "record" and the Brown Goldfish "record" would it ? (I have told that saga on AN some years ago) PS Looking more closely, it must be later than that, as both Den and I were handsome young men at the time of the "Carassius hiatus" Nice fish, anyway. poledark 50
I think it may have been 7/8/97 according to the date on the pic Can't remember all the details, but I believe the "record" was open at the time, and I was advised that my fish "must be a brown goldfish" no reason given, simply the opinion of a self important "expert". I never pursued the claim any further...........not really bothered to be honest There were other, smaller crucians in the pond...... Rusty 284
In 2000 it was 4-08; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angling_records_in_the_UK#Historical_Previous_records It's never a 'six', let's put it back
Vagabond 1013
...... my fish "must be a brown goldfish" no reason given, simply the opinion of a self important "expert". First requirement of an expert. "my fish is a pure crucian (or roach) - your fish is a goldfish (or roach hybrid)" Say it firmly enough and angling journal editors believe it ! ...and no doubt, you have noticed all those pictures of "double-figure bass" which used to be published. The same size as the six pounders the rest of us catch RNLI Governor World species 471 : UK species 105 : English species 95 .
