Can anybody make a positive ID for this bream I caught at Eastbourne Ledge on Monday?

I was thinking maybe a Golden Bream, it had distinctly yellow stripes, but I've been told they're not a native species. It's certainly looks like a different species to the common black bream I caught earlier.

i think it's just a common or garden black bream, female i think or an immature male

Unbearable, isn't it? The suffering of strangers, the agony of friends. There is a secret song at the center of the world, and its sound is like razors through flesh.

It's an immature female black bream.

They all start life as FEMALES , the characteristics of which you can see in 'Paintfly's' first picture ... pinky/silver looking.

Some change before maturity (Protogynous) and become the barred, larger blue/black headed males.

Here's a beach-caught mature female and you can see the 'pretty' features of the female ....

(No! Not me yer silly sod!)

..and couch's are pink with a bigger mouth like a gilthead. Giltheads and couch's are similar shape, but the couch's is pink, and the gilthead is silver with a gold band between the eyes. Red bream are also pink, but have a massive eye and black blotch on the side.
