I'd never heard of the place until your post.

I looked for some reference on the 'net, but no luck.

I then looked for it on Google earth, and all I can find is a small very weedy pond/lake in the grounds of Throxenby Hall, just North of the Hall. Is this the Mere?

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Sorry, obviously I'm no help with the info' you want.

I've looked on 'Yorkshire Fishing' site, and all sites I can find about fishing in the area, but no mention of it, apart from someone asking the same questions on 'Fishing Magic', and they didn't get any help either.

Is it a 'new' fishery?

Throxenby Mere is located just off the A171 whitby road in Scarborough. If you head towards whitby on the A171 turn left at Yorkshire Coast College. Keep going past the college and Rainclife School entrances and the mere is half a mile on your left. Day Tickets are available from GB angling on Victoria Road in Scarborough, but they are only available monday to friday as weekends are members only. They cost £5 but you will need your rod licence to buy one. Species included roach, tench, carp , bream, perch and pike. The venue is a good pike water with fish to well over 30lb. Watch out for snaggs !!
