i thought it meant leans on lamppost and that george formby had invented text talk

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

There's always the pleasure of insisting on texting in grammatically correct English, just to annoy people. I always make a point of putting all the commas and apostrophes in - even semi-colons if I really want to wind them up.

As for Nev, I remember his "Forgettable guide to making a bite alarm" with some affection (a bit of a contradiction of terms admittedly).

English as tuppence, changing yet changeless as canal water, nestling in green nowhere, armoured and effete, bold flag-bearer, lotus-fed Miss Havishambling, opsimath and eremite, feudal, still reactionary, Rawlinson End.

"Awaar, you got it. Perhaps I have a future in text speak after all. I feel younger already."

I'm gonna start using that one....mainly to colleagues here

One of the reasons that we make posts on the Forum is for our comments to be read. However, if I'm tired or in a hurry I skip the posts with any text speak in them. I suspect I'm not the only Old Fart who does so.

So if you want everyone to read your posts then avoid text speak!

dont forget though that most of the posts that contain text speak are the ones that are of little interest to anyone who can talk and write proper anyway, so maybe if those loveable little urchins that insist on using text speak continue to do so, we at least know which posts to ignore!

(for the record when i send a text message i always use correct punctuation and spelling, not sure why i dont on here, i jst dnt!)
