What fish is this?

BoozleBear

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine caught this on 2 maggots on a feeder.

IMHO it's a hybrid but of which species?

The mouth makes me think there's chub in there and the body says bream.

Your thoughts?

Cheers,

Simon

Aye! Roach Bream does it for moi!

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))

Was it from a lake or river? There looks to be a bit of carp in there to me... Did it fight hard?

I think it was from a still water. Came to 2 maggots on a feeder. A hard fight wasn't mentioned so doubt it.

He thought it was roach bream hybrid too, but I thought the mouth said chubb and the fins weren't red enough.

Until I heard it was from a still water I thought it was the world's first dace/bream hybrid.

English as tuppence, changing yet changeless as canal water, nestling in green nowhere, armoured and effete, bold flag-bearer, lotus-fed Miss Havishambling, opsimath and eremite, feudal, still reactionary, Rawlinson End.
