Well i just thoguht i would say hello.

My Names Darren and I'm from Croydon just inside the south of the M25. I'm 22 and am hoping to start fishing soon. I went a couple of times when i was around 11-12 with my Uncle. i didnt catch much and i spent more time untangling myself from trees but i still really enjoyed myself and the peace of sitting next to the water.

Unfortunatly my hobby never took off as at 12 years old money was non existent and the only person who would take me out was my Uncle who worked an awful lot. Now at 22 i have my own wheels, a decent paying job and some time to kill midweek while the world is busy at work! I'll be speaking to my uncle to see if he can take me out at some point and hopefully i can take it from there.

Thats about it really, lots to read and even more to learn so i'll catch you later :)

Welcome. There is indeed lots to read and enough learning to keep you busy at it for at least the next 80 years. I think that's one reason I love my fishing.

Hi Darren, and welcome to the madhouse! (sorry, the best fishing forum on the Internet....)

I only took up fishing for the first time last summer, and I can honestly say that without the help of many of the members on here, I'd still be struggling to teach myself. You couldn't have come to a better place.

Do a search for any specific information you need, and if you can't find it, then just ask. You'll get more answers than you'll know what to do with!

And a few of them will even make sense. :D

well i just had a chat with my uncle (after first thinking it was my cousin, dont sons sound like their dads on the phone!!) and he said he will take me out soon. it may or may not be before xmas but since i know it can be quiet during the winter i dont mind waiting.

we both do shift work (different jobs) so hopefully we can sort a day out midweek when everyone else is at work :P
