Very nice prezzy you've got coming Chav, looks really nice! I like the extra line lays Garry uses on his reels. I have the FJT's and they have 16 linelays instead of the usual 12 I otice the one iyour getting has 18 which is even better.

Did you get your perfection angling reel, they looked like nice reels. I was tempted myself and actually phoned up to order one several times but the seller wasn't in and it gave me time to re-consider as I had a spitfire on the verg of being ready...check it out, I orderd it way back when you posted a thread up about one years ago....

i got a grayling perfection & kennet perfection ,I've used the kennet on a trip too the royalty ,the grayling perfection I'm saving for some winter grayling fishing (or at least that was the plan ) & i'm coming up to being two years in on my lythe floatmaster .my problem is I have the kennet and grayling perfections (both are the same style but the kennet is slightly wider and has a adjustable check .now with this new reel i'm thinking I might not use the grayling perfection (and won't when the lythe is done ) so I might get rid of that one to make room for the new reel .but not sure yet .

I think i'd keep both of the perfection reels if I was you Chav.

I reckon you'll be happy with your floatmaster when it turns up, I really like mine and it's seriously nice to use.

Hi, I missed out on the greyling perfection so let me know if you are going to sell. Is the floatmaster the old AJP delux? If so nice reel but I use the scotton long trotter more.

Concerning the perfect reels, I have the Avon perfection which is an excellent reel but the quality of craftsmanship leaves a bit to be desired. Damaged screws due to using wrong driver, burrs on some edges, ratchet sometimes does not engage or disengages when walking between swims, ratchet spring poorly formed, line guard had to be reshaped as well.

As for christmas, a new rucksack hopefully and reel bag. Was hoping for a tricast 18-20 to aid with my long trotting but will have to see.

Yeah BB, the floatmaster was called the AJP delux. I was lucky enough to get the two of them last year and like them both very much. There's not a lot of difference except for the fact that the long trotter has narrower drum plates so it must be a little lighter (i've never botherd to weigh them though).

I have heard of people having issues with the perfection series before. It was the original run of roach reels and apparently the line lays on some of them where split and where unsightly due to Garry rushing to finnish them for a show / sale day. I think Gary told people to send them back if they wished and he would replace the line lays. I know of a couple of people who did but weren't happy as when the reels had been taken appart the finnish had been marked.

I have several reels made by Garry and i'm happy with them, although I have had a few small niggles with 'em. I have a Browning revolver and both the FJT's, the Trotter and Specialist...the screws holding the reel foot on the revolver came lose when out fishing which was a pain as I had no screw driver to tighten them back up. The centre boss screw kept coming loose on the FJT trotter and one day whilst playing a barbel in an alkward spot the screw came out of the ratchet button, again I had no way to tighten it up except to use my thumb nail lol. Appart from those minor hick-ups the reels have been great and I think Garrys workmanship is sound, lets face it a loose screw or two can't be helped.

I think one of Garrys sons makes the perfection series.

I've never had a problem with any of CL's reels...now they should have been called the perfection series lol. Although saying that I would imagine someone will have had an issue of some kind.

BB, i'd have a look at the 15ft acolyte before buying the tri cast.

the kennet and grayling are perfect ,got no problems with quality of finish .I was going to get the line guards moved to suit wally casting ,but they're pop off (snap on) types so not bothered .but I might get the millstream one moved later (any excuse to go visit garry)

barbelbarmy ,i'll keep you in mind if I decide to let the grayling go.
