i expect if you took out all the useless "visual" crap vista may improve but as usual rather than streamlining with better code microsoft just piles in extra code slowing things down.still negotiating for a vista 64bit version from a source but will dual boot with XP to be on the safe side.eventually everything will be 64bit so i'l have a head start
Are you running 64 bit Vista chesters?

no awaiting a chap to find a copy ,fear not it will be a multi user version (multi licence) not a "copy" as such ;) they dont use it yet but he's having a word with the other techs as there will be copies on other more hard working servers ,most are linux but its not a 100% perfect for all departments.

some need more than 4 gig memory so if their not linux they will be XP64 or vista64 i just have to keep reminding him as techs are busy people when theres few of them and downloading hard core porn in your free time tends to make you forget things :D

I might have another go at Vista when SP2 comes out. I've got a spare HD so I can easily give it a try without risking my nice fast and stable XP SP2 installation.

Of course, you could always get a mac with OSX 10.5 Leopard on it, just to see what it should be like

I've got a rather elderly G4 running 10.4.11. If Apple were to do a generic PC version of Leopard I'd certainly give the wheels of that a kick.

A mac pro with the nvidia card in it would be cool. Got one going spare?

I know where there is one for sale but unfortunately in the current economic climate a re-mortgage seems unlikely ;)

I too have an elderly G4 with 10.4.11 which I still much prefer to my PC with XP Pro

How much RAM do you have in your G4? What is it like with YouTube Videos? Is it the PCI or the AGP version?

it's a G4 quicksilver 733mhz with 640mb of ram bought on Ebay for very little.

It play youtube vids perfectly.

I also use Photoshop, and Illustrator as well as Quark Express and it has MS Office for Mac, all of these run with no problems.

A better one than mine. Mine is the Sawtooth but is only a 350MHz, with 512MB. It struggles with YouTube stuff, but I got it for free so can't complain. Edited by corydoras
