RSA Strategy Consultation Launched

Recommended Posts

I think the RSA strategy will be the worst thing ever for sea anglers. There's more bad than good in the document, and don't be hoodwinked by mention of the "good", such as the golden mile. The golden mile isn't all it's cracked up to be, it's a good soundbite that's all, and it won't ever happen anyway. If anyone is in any doubt about this governments intentions with regard to RSA, look at recent events like the bass MLS farce, and then look at what happend in Portugal earlier this year. We've got more of that to look forward to, and that's about it. Maybe if enough anglers respond to the consultation it might make a difference, but I doubt it very much. They've promised more and bigger fish, but can't and won't deliver.

Don't think defra are the guys to run it. Should be by anglers for anglers.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

I think that you will find Paul that any jurisdiction on bag limits etc, will initially become law through the marine bill but will pass onto local by-laws and become the responsibility of local SFC, s to enforce.

My first and last post on Conservation and Politics.

t may have something to do with it being tucked away here in the Politics and Conservation section - which only a hand-full of forum users appear to visit on a regular basis.

If a new topic were posted in the other sea angling related sections, with a link to this thread, would it be moved or deleted? I would hope not.

Perhaps, just this once, a topic of such importance as this should be opened up across other sections with a sticky message?

They were split for a very good reason. We got fed up with getting slagged off every time someone dared to take a fish for the table and some of us were getting nasty e-mail for criticising the mis-guided but well meaning do gooders in the angling family. Best they remain separate.

That was mentioned by defras nicola clark at recent meeting with rsas being present there is one thing i would say john if bag limits do come into force the whitby charter fleet will wiped out overnight that is for sure people will not pay to catch only a couple of fish and who can blame them so the nsfc will have nobody to police i think per munbers of fish taken by the rsas its peonuts in the real world.

Nicola Clarke is the Policy adviser to DEFRA. This means basically she will advise them on public opinion and what they will or wont be able to get away with. I can hear the conversation now.

"Yes Mr Shaw, A sea Fishing Licence will be no problem to you just like Mr Roskilly promised, Just offer to kill a few seals and all will be well with no opposition at all. I think it really must be true that there is too much lead in the water when you venture north of Watford"

That's the sort of remark I've come to expect from fellow anglers ...

what we get in the future from Defra and the Marine Bill will be exactly what was planned and will be enacted by Defra's civil servants with Government principles in mind; not the everyday recreational anglers' considerations.

Leon, SACN, NFSA (too little in my opinion) and others have tried to show involvement and leadership of a group of people in our society who are naive to the nth degree.

Recreational anglers have no understanding of principles of government and regulation and as such have no say in the matters which affect them. They then sling mud at anyone who dares to stand up and be counted and show how to engage these 'grey suits and skirts' of Whitehall.

What you get will be what you deserve.

:uhuh:

Actually Glenn, I addressed a group of MPs and others in Parliament recently, with Jonathan Shaw present. (Nicola wasn't present, but her boss was)

I told them, and him, something very different to your twisted fantasy! :)

That may well be the case Leon, but all we can see as fact, is what Defra have put out in this RSA Strategy Consultation document.

As it reads at the moment there is little of apparent benefit to RSA's in it, but plenty of things for us not to like.

I will make a calm and reasoned response to it, but I suspect my comments will fall on stony ground as they have every time I have written to a Government Agency and I will get the standard Dear Sir/Madam letter back.

H.A, whether you like it or not, a great many of the Sea Anglers I have spoken to blame the RSA representatives for the probability that we are going to have a sea licence, bag limits, no go fishing areas, close seasons and loads of other nasty things to contend with, real or imagined.

They would prefer things to have been left as they were and the representatives should not have "rocked the boat".

This may not be fair of them, but its what they believe.
