Very interesting.

When I was four years old, (that was in 1938), as a reward for learning to read, my parents' employer (an ex-Indian Army colonel to whom I have referred before on AN) bought me a set of "The World of Wonder" - a four-volume illustrated encyclopaedia.

 

Amongst the sub-titular "Ten thousand things every child should know" was an account of dorado, flying fish and frigate bird interaction, together with an illustration of the very thing shown in the video above.

 

Cory might approve of that publication - another of the "ten thousand things" was an account of "continental drift" which I couldn't fault even when I was teaching oceanography/earth sciences at university in later life. The encyclopaedia was published in 1936, several years before the discovery of plate tectonics.

I still have those books, very battered and well thumbed.
