Thanks for that Jeeps I'll start looking for a deal. Merry Christmas everyone!

My model is the Tom Tom One XL and like many, it can be plugged into your computer for up-dating.

No mention of Camera warnings!

I was told that the police have to notify the position of the mobile speed cameras a week or so in advance and Road Angel, for example, updates your system to warn you. Does this happen?

I get a weekly download updating on the position of the speed cameras, it was an extra but I think off hand it cost £19 a year for the subscription

I know it will not apply to auto drivers but for those who have larger vehicles, how available are units that allow picking a route that is suited to large trucks?

We recently bought a sat nav unit (our first) and that was something we required. Works fine.

I have used several makes over the last year or so. The worst was made by a German company ( can't remember their name ), the best Tom Tom.

You'll find that all makes have problems within central London, the councils change the traffic flow prority, shutting off the end of some streets so you do end up in a dead end now and again. However, since using Sat Nav's our London rep's save 45 mins plus per day.
