Floods and Drought in Oz,

Newt facing a stormfront spawning tornadoes.

Suppose I should be happy with this!

Areas Affected: North-east & South-east England

A stalling frontal system will push into South-east England this afternoon and is likely to remain across the region until midday on Saturday.

This will lead to accumulations of up to 50mm of rainfall across some areas giving the risk of localised flooding.

...............Into next week and the relentless assault of the Atlantic continues with more gales and rain.

The veg plots are already saturated, and now puddling, I guess that the rivers will be turning brown for a while :(

I wonder if the commercial fishermen will even find enough days to get out and catch their new quotas?

The cat is staring out of the window at the rain and is not happy.

Storm Ilse today

Storm Jette tomorrow, dumping lots of rain onto saturated ground.

Looks as though some areas will be flooding :(

And the outlook is for more deep depressions rolling in

Has somone been fishing at Wingham?

The water level on Saturday was up 2 inches or so compared with the weekend before. In fact, several swims are somewhat flooded. Despite the recent rain though the level's still lower than September. The trouble is, with the water table being so high, any heavy rain quickly raises it.

Scenario not good here in Gloucestershire either, I checked the river levels this afternoon and levels not a lot down on the July floods with more, much more rain to come early tomorrow.

Some folk here have just got their houses dry from July and are expecting to be flooded again, cant imagine how they must be feeling, still fingers crossed that they stay dry.

I've got em crossed for you Neil. Hope you miss the rain mate. I can't imagine the pain and anxiety of even more rain flooding that you guys down there are going through.

All the best and plenty of dry weather heading your way, i hope!!!!!

Wild and very wet this morning.

Strange howling sounds coming from the eaves!

The ground is soaked, the cat refused to go out this morning, but was fascinated by the sight of a largish lob worm that had abandoned the lawn, crawling slowly across the concrete towards the shelter of the garage.

Obviously wanted to get at it, but no way was it going to step outside!

Good luck to all those fearful of what this storm (and what's waiting in the wings) could do.

Today is rubbish (garbage) day.

Recycling material in blue boxes, and blue plastic bags.

Rubbish in black plastic sacks.

Before the arrival of the lorries (trucks), the wind scattered and tore open many of the sacks.

After the lorries had been around, the wind played bowls with the empty containers, boxes and plastic bins, scattering them in the road and into gardens and hedges.

The lanes are full of wet leaves and twigs, mixed with escapee rubbish and ground beneath the wheels of vehicles.

I don't like the look of what's in the Channel, moving up from Northern France in this direction, hopefully it will pass to the South.

river rising fast was within 2 feet of the lowest arch ,hasent flooded for a few years my last excursion in the landy has me thinking of the wave that went over the local coppers wellies as i bravely went through ,mind you my feet got wet as well in the landy :o

he was ok as usual (nice bloke) and the next time we gave a lift to a female constable after she closed the road forgetting she had left her police car on the other side :D

i warned the local blonde horse riding lady her field was flooding after seeing her horses looking stupid standing right next to the river with a loop of water in the lower part of the field threatening to cut them

off

hasent rained much today so it may recede unless the upper legs (of the river) have had some ,we have two rivers in our village but only one (he says mysteriously) but 3 names (even more mysteriously but with a smug look)
