:clap2: You need: 1. a committee. 2. rules. 3. members. 4. a meet, pub ideal.

5. Competitions/trophies. 6. preferably a sponsor. 7.lots of enthusiasm. 8. good luck.

Advertising locally can be free, word of mouth,, local press/radio. Lots of hard work because anglers want to fish, not be committee members. :clap2:

Hiya, I'm the secretary of our local freshwater club..:( but, when my mates started a SAC in my home town, they put a notice in the local press, asking for interested folks to give him a call...

you shouldnt have to pay for it, give the sports desk a ring, and explain what you are trying to do...then they "should" put a wee bit in the paper, telling folks about it,...you cn then guage local interest..:)

You will get the rules etc off the NFSA website, I should think.....they will give you some help also, I would imagine, and it might pay to become affiliated to them..

Good luck..:)

In sleep every dog dreams of food, and I, a fisherman, dream of fish..

Where are you based?

Like Norm says.

Committee and rules are essential.

We had a club with no rules and it proved very difficult to actually draft some rules at a later date because everyone had differing opinions. Even if your rules say

1. There are no rules

Then everyone knows where they stand. Also think about a constitution.

Generally the NFSA are a waste of time at the moment, but worth thinking about joining for the insurance. However your regional fishing federation will offer cheap if not cheaper insurance.
