Best eel I ever had was from the river Douglas on the wigan DAA stretch at Gathurst.

Our perception of time as an orderly sequence of regular ticks and tocks has no relevance here in the alternative dimension that is fishing....... C.Yates

Scotchmans flash, Pearsons flash, Horrocks's, Best tactic is fish at night with small dead bait. Westwood's another. Rufford canal is good too. I'd forget it till late spring or summer though.

Thanks for the help, another question now, whats the legal issue removing eels, is this illegal? :nono:

The majority of people release any eels they catch due to the decline in their numbers.

I didn't realise that there was a problem with eels, hes after keeping any I will have to tell him thats a no no then. :nonono:

When we caught eels, in my early teens, nobady wanted to have anything to do with them, fear off being bitten, perhaps this was the problem.

Someone has asked me where to catch snig/eels around Wigan, to be honest I was stumped can someone help me help them.

I have caught them in the canal at Gathurst and Crooke and also figure 8.

There are big Eel in the Limey (near the JJB) which my works used to own but I don't think fishing is allowed there anymore. The Limeys Eel fishing was actually featured on a fishing series on the BBC about 12 years ago.
