Yes

Nearest half foot

which is the best model?

It depends on your needs. I prefer the rod mount.

Cheers guys had a look through the old posts, very interesting?. Basically i just need a basic finder that tells me what depth is in front of me and any features, drop offs humps etc without using a rod and lead?. I seen one on an american site i think it was an rf30 newt?,it was the one with the wristwatch display?,do you think they are any good?,thanks in advance. :)

I've tried all three. The wristwatch is my least favourite.

The rod mount is probably my pick since I can watch the screen while reeling in the sounder head. Downside is a small screen (although slightly larger than the wristwatch one).

Just to add to the previous posts of mine that you've probably found by doing a search, I agree with Newt about the wrist one being the least convenient. The rod-mounted model is much more practical as it's always in the right place to look at. If you want a lightweight model this is the one to get.

If weight isn't so important and you wan't to see minor depth variations or more details, then the full-size unit is the one to go for. I bought a number of different models (I was a Humminbird stockist), and this is the one I use myself.

You can also buy boat-mounted models that can additionally be used from the bank as a Smartcast.

Many thanks guys, looking at one on ebay at the moment, cheers for the replies!

Which ever one you decide to get , don't forget to attach the transmitter thingy to a wire trace as I nearly lost mine to a pike.
