Jean Alexander, aged 90 :(

I was never a fan of Coronation Street, but I know she will be missed by millions.

RIP Hilda Ogden.

My mum loved her 'muriel' so much we had one! the sad thing was the only wall big enough had a small window in the middle of it .

On reflection it was a serving hatch ,such things still existed in those times ,nowadays the complete wall would be removed.

I had long left home by this time so only had to look at it on the times we visited ,the thing was quickly replaced and a better less cluttered one put up with little more than bamboo stems and and a few acers with a stereotype lake with a jap house on it and ofcourse the blooming hatch still

I used to watch it as a kid but then there was only one tv and a kid didnt have the power to decide what to watch although then there was very little to watch but the potters wheel until tea time

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

Its far easier to curse the darkness than light one candle

My mother was a Muriel.

Ah, but did she also have a 'flight of ducks', ayjay?

Coronation St brings back memories of my childhood in the 60s. In the summer, when the theme music was heard coming from almost every house in the street, we knew it was time to finish up our game, and head home.

Don't forget Jean Alexander was 'Aunty' Wainwright as well.

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

No: no Ducks Tigger.

She was never called Muriel either, it was always Mu (or maybe Mooo) - I can still see my Uncle Dick tromping down the stairs in his size 14s swinging around the newel post at the bottom calling out MooOOoo..........

(His name wasn't Dick either, it was actually Clifford, but it was only his wife ever called him that - I wonder why? :D
