Nah, I've just been posting on here (and elsewhere) as I always used to do. It's just that nobody else seems to anymore so it almost becomes mine only - there is very little traffic ere now. See here: http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/-t81660.html for the background to the current situation. The fact is, if nobody bothers to post trip reports and other stuff on here then this part of the site will end up a muddy backwater swamp. I'd rather not see that happen to what was a very vibrant site as it is through this site that I for one got into kayak fishing - I got advice here before I bought, I got questions answered afterwards and I returned the hours of reading I got with hours of reading I made for others. Hopefully moire people will follow on and write up trip/catch reports, reviews etc like in the old days. It's not hard to copy and paste from one forum to the other after all, and this forum is accessible to casual browsers without registering at least.

Yep, me too  I found this site by accident, when I googled kayak rigging and a picture of Bills (yakkity) kayak appeared and I followed the link to here! Hopefully people will read this link and start posting more

The void is probably due to the pants weather we have been having lately! I have been out a handful of times this winter as opposed to last winter when I was out Loaaaaads!.

Hopefully it will pick up. Good to see you are getting out! I envy you having such access to the broads AND the sea!! Great stuff!

All the best

Hi Dave Mark.

Yes it has gone quiet.

I think that its mainly due to the fact there are now several dedicated Kayak Fishing forums in the U.K.

Who have thier own forum chat rooms, and are able to store and display lots of good information for the ever increasing members joining the fold to access and enjoy, with ease.

The Kayak Fishing Forum on good old Anglers Net, has been left behind as the sport has grown and progressed at a staggering rate.

But Summer is around the the corner, and hopefully, we will see the postings increase again.

A huge percentage of the guys in the sport today, came to Anglers Net in the very begining and cut thier teeth on the knowlage shared here, be nice to see them back here now and again with a post or three.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there Bill. This is where it all kicked off but with the huge increase in interest, then it was inevitable that specialist yak forums and websites would attract newcomers.

I'm as guilty as most for being too lazy to post up reports on two or more sites ( too lazy to do them anywhere to be honest) nowadays, and with the wealth of information out there now on the why's and wherefores of yakfishing then unfortunately AN has got left behind a little.

It's a real shame because some of my fondest memories of starting yakfishing were in those early discussions on what are now basics, things like what anchors to use. I ask you? a milk carton full of lead or a piece of chain, what were we thinking. :D

Happy days,

Stu. :)

Over the coming weeks (which will probably turn into months), I hope to collate some of the information here into articles for the main part of the site which will, in turn, attract more visitors to the forum area.

If there are any specific posts that you think would make good articles, then please point them out to me.

Obviously, I'd seek the author's permission, which is why I'm starting with Mark's input, but topics of particular interest could be rewritten.

The main site now has its own Kayak Fishing section, although I've only added two articles so far. more will go on tomorrow (I'm looking after the kids today):

I'll also be adding more sea fishing content this year, as my own angling year is intended to be quite boat-based.

I to am guilty of laziness when it comes to posting but that said up to press my forays onto the wet stuff have been few and far between sadly,

I agree that now there are a lot of other forums set up and people tend to post more on their local sites and I am one of these but I alway's check this site out from loyalty because when I was looking into getting my first Kayak two years ago it was and still is a vast source of information.

long live Anglers Net!! :D
