some pedestrians using zebra crossings make me shiver. Without bothering to gain eye contact with the driver they step off and keep going. The one ones I refer to are either pushing a pram, on the fone.

Or on the fone.

That's your fault mate, As a driver you should always be prepared to stop at a Zebra. As soon as a pedestrian has put ONE foot on the Zebra they have right of way.

Zebra crossings. As you approach a zebra crossing

  • look out for pedestrians waiting to cross and be ready to slow down or stop to let them cross
  • you MUST give way when a pedestrian has moved onto a crossing
  • allow more time for stopping on wet or icy roads
  • do not wave or use your horn to invite pedestrians across; this could be dangerous if another vehicle is approaching
  • be aware of pedestrians approaching from the side of the crossing.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Dear oh dear, you got it wrong yet again. Put the top back on the bottle.

I said drivers, i didn't imply personally that the pedestrian must make eye contact with me before they cross.

The responsibility of pedestrians is just as important as the driver where it comes to personal safety. I hate those who multi task and take it as read that the pedestrian will be safe because the law permits.

And those pig ignorant pedestrians who don't even offer acknowledgement to the driver as they cross the road get up my nose, i always do, do you?

For your information sport i always stop, even frustratingly where the pedestrian appears to want to cross yet don't.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Yes Barry I laways make eye contact and signal a" thank you" the driver some way or other when they stop at a junction or crossing to let me cross the road. I won't put a foot on a Zebra UNTIL the traffic has stopped.

A lot of our drivers would be effed if they drove in Holland Barry. On some roads in Holland powered vehicles are bottom of the food chain. If one has an accident with a tram, pedestrian or a bicycle it's always the drivers fault. A bit like it's always (or nearly always) one's fault if one runs into the back of a car here.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

This is the story of Harold Hay,

Who died upholding his Right of Way.

He held it right, and he held it strong,

But he's just as dead as if he'd been wrong.

I am old enough to remember crossings in pre-zebra days.

Trafalgar Square. double-decker buses every five seconds, lots of other traffic in between. Saw a woman with push-chair and toddler in it, unstrapped, trying to cross. Pushchair onto crossing, testing the water. No, here comes a bus, pull it back. Try again, taxi this time, pull it back again. The poor little brat in the pushchair was undergoing simple harmonic motion, swaying to and fro in time with his mother's (I am assuming it wasn't a nursemaid) reciprocation. Eventually a gap appeared and they crossed. I wonder if the toddler survived until school age ?

The fact is that the pedestrian ALWAYS has right of way on every occasion, on or off crossings. A driver will always give way to a pedestrian. You would not run someone down just because they are not on a crossing, you would at least swerve to try to avoid them.

In France it is the law that pedestrians have the right of way at all times.

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

Spent a weekend in paris once, crossing the roads was a nightmare. Those drivers didn't give a toss to each other or pedestrians.

You should try Taiwan mate. They won't brake for you there. If your lucky you might get a blast on the horn. Best adrenalin rush in my life was a ride on the back of a wee scooter through Kaohsiung.

All,

You can't imagine how many pedestrian close calls I've had in England. I automatically look the wrong way first, and proceed as though I have at least the width of the driving lane. If you don't stop driving on the wrong side of the motorway you're gonna kill someone.

It's the same for me when I go to visit relatives in France, Phone. It's very easy to easy to look the "wrong" way first. Don't visit Russia!
