I think they have, it will be done propa next time. The mausoleum and chapel should be finished by then, so it will get treated with the proper reverence and respect it deserves.

Perhaps it should be done like Guinness record where every angler in the country has a EA "official" standing behind them incase a record is caught so they can verify it

I agree, It wasn't caught by accident and the captor deserves some credit.

I fished that lake in the 1950's, whilst camping with the cubs. The biggest I caught was about 1lb. Come on a bit since then !!

It's not that it's a fat, ugly, mug fish, which maybe it isn't, it's the carp industry as a whole that devalues such fish.

Blame Dick Walker for catching a big stockie in 1953, he started it.

But at least Walker found that fish, developed the tackle, even designed the rod, credit where it's due.

 

There are several certainties in life, one being that Christmas comes but once a year, bit like the carp record, and that we will all eventually die. There can be few coarse fish records that are as predictable as the carp one, hence it's possibly the most devalued and least interesting record, outside carp circles, in our sport!
