Really?

When did we leave the EU?

I've been trying to find breakdowns of the results by votes cast rather than by seats won on a first past the post basis but haven't had much luck so far.

It's interesting that neither the Labour Party not the Conservatives even seem to be setting out their stalls for the EU elections at the end of the month.

They got a referendum thats about all they could do ,the other parties have stopped the process not ukip ,we havnt left because the EU wont let us thats the trouble when you give power to someone its no good to them if they dont use it and boy they will!

I may grudgingly vote for the brexit party in the euro elections and hope others do ,not for giving them power (the major parties have that ) but to show brexit is what i want not some deal that exists in mays mind only

As for proportional representation until the party system is abolished nothing is democratic and voting just a waste of time ,scum is scum whatever colour their flags!

Special pleading. You are one of the ones claiming that the EU does not maintain external borders. The ROI/NI border is an external border but you think your case is a special one and that the external border rules do not apply to you. Also the WTO that is your poster-child would have an opinion becuasu if you alow an open border with one entity then you have to apply the same rules to ALL trading partners.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Got no problem with a border in Ireland but the republic or the EU funds and runs it ,i cannot see how a foreign entity can dictate what we do having left it ,5 miles south of the NI border would do fine! Lots of parking for anyone foolish enough to want to go to the EU via this route and as its not on UK soil THEY take the flack from the locals

Cod insists we will not trade with european countries so close all the borders its no skin off my nose i can exist happily without EU based countries goods ,there isnt one foodstuff humans cannot live without from there and most items are made in china do you think the shiny stone polisher i got just now comes via the EU?

The ONLY electrical item i have bought from the EU countries is direct from germany but made in china if i had found its available directly i would have skipped germany ,i have a russian detector but sold over the border in poland for import reasons or more importantly warranty reasons so that makes 2 items both could have been bought outside the EU if it were necessary

My other machines are 2 made in america and one an australian machine ,the only machine i know made in the eu is from france but i can live without it!

As far as i can see the WTO cannot enforce its own rules and cannot insist on a hard border in ireland ,the EU tend to think otherwiseand have no problem with its member states being punished enforcing its rules and infact has little control over borders except in their own heads

Chesters, I really, really, don't give a flying fig for what Cod says or about your shiny stone polisher. We will trade with the EU aster we leave. I also don't give a damn on what you can live on or can't live on. It's not about YOU.

Of course it is. Everybody voted in accordance with what they saw as their own best interests, their family's best interests, their view of what the future of Britain should be etc.

Accepting that people have different views and are not simply "stupid" or that they "didn't understand what they were voting on" is the only way to maintain a respectful dialogue.

I've lost count of the number of discussions I've had where remainers were unable to grasp that simple fact.
