Are you sure that some software is not down-loading updates in the background?

It may be your anti-virus updates or Miscrosoft updates etc.

It may just be a scheduled virus check that is causing it to happen?

Try looking at the processes that are running by pressing Ctrl/Alt/Delete (at the same time) and selecting 'Task Manager', this should give you some idea of what is currently running at the time.

My wife sometimes has her cursor dissappearing when her virus checker is running in the background.

:(

Hi.

Since when? What sort of PC (Laptop or Desktop)?

What type of pointer are you using (USB Mouse, wireless mouse, touchpad, etc)?

And do you have a television card installed or connected in/to your computer? Or a graphics tablet?

Cheers

Ian.

I'm fairly sure I have the answer. I think you will find that your screen settings have defaulted to assume that you are using two monitors - strange, but that's what mine was doing.

Right click on your desktop and click on Properties.

You will probably find monitor numbers 1 and 2 being displayed.

If they are both highlighted that is definitely where the problem lays, but even if only no.1 is highlighted, I think there can still be a conflict with the settings on your graphics card.

Double click on the no.1 screen and it should bring up your graphic card's settings dialog.

On mine there is a tab for GeForce 7650FS (I can only assume yours will have an equivalent)

There, hopefully, you should have options to use either a single or a dual display - opt for single.

If that was the cause, you should find that not only does your cursor no longer disappear, but that items that you drag and drop (including some toolbars) are also much better behaved.

Hope that works.

Have you checked all the settings under Control Panel>Mouse?

Cheers

Ian.

Hi Ian, checked the settings everything seems to be ok.

Cheers Fred
