The case of the disappearing cursor

So when you start the machine, you see the pointer? But when you move it (in any direction) it disappears? Does it reappear?

What graphics driver do you have? And was the machine originally supplied with Vista, or XP?

Cheers

Ian.

I can see the pointer in most things but in this reply box i have no idea where it is, so if i want to go up to the third line to correct something i have to use the up and down keys and the side keys.

its nearly alway the pages with text that is the problem. came with vista installed

Cheers Fred

Does pressing Fn-f7 on keyboard help? (only works on Acer, this toggles touchpad on/off)

What model of Acer laptop is it, there is a driver problem associated with the acer touchpad and Vista.

You may need the new Acer touchpad drivers.

try getting in to the advanced settings for the graphics card and change the refresh rate, if that doesnt work try changing the cursor from the control panel option and if that doesnt work try changing the move speed in the mouse options

Hi Andy, the refresh rate is shown as 60 hertz with no option to alter that.

Have tried changing the speed faster and slower it didn't help the problem.

I changed the cursor got the same problem.

melpen---Tried the Fn--F7 it just enabled and disabled and didnt help.

ive noticed mines do the same kind of thing but thats when using word, or i get some severe flicker on the cursor if some sort of video or graphic intensive program is running, nothing like that running in the background perhaps ? check for the highest cpu and memory usage on task manager and kill that proccess see if it helps any
