Problems connecting to internet

My daughter has a Dell laptop around 1 year old running W10 It was working fine but recently stopped connecting to t'internet wirelessly when she was in Spain. It won't connect wirelessly or via ethernet connection to our livebox here at home. All of our other computers (4) connect fine to our livebox

When you run the troubleshooting on her laptop it comes up with:

"local area connection doesn't have a valid IP connection"

Is this likely to be a problem with her laptop or with W10?

Thanks

Sometimes - if the /renew doesn't work you need to do a two part

ipconfig /release

followed by

ipconfig /renew

Also useful at times, especially if you can't connect to a specific web site for no apparent reason, is to empty your local DNS cache

ipconfig /flushdns

which frees it to grab fresh (and hopefully accurate) DNS info when you visit a site. Your local cache is automatically emptied when you reboot the PC but this is certainly faster than a reboot and is harmless.
