im 99.9% sure they sold those in the glasgow angling centre mate, worth a look

Hi Andy

They sell the Ron Thompson or Snowbee float tubes, not pontoon boats

See here for what I am after

http://www.pontoonboats.co.uk/

I can buy them here but there is a hell of a difference in price.

Thanks anyway

Dave

I'd be careful with those 'pontoon' boats Sportsman.

I've heard if you catch more than 21 fish, they 'bust'. :o:unsure:

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Sorry not familiar with customs / duty even though I live here. If someone from the US were to tick the box on the US customs form for it being a gift..... Does that make it exempt from customs and paying the duty?

Would that it did but no, it only raises the minimum price before duty & VAT are charged {if you are believed about it being a gift} from £18 to £36 but you still pay on the total amount so there is no savings from lying on the customs form about gift vs merchandise. It also is not wise to simply lie about the value on the form since customs can and does open packages and if they do not believe the price, will assign a value that suits them. Ouch!!! when that happens.

Being "used" does not help either since the key is whether VAT has ever been paid on the item or not. If it comes from outside the EU then it has not.

Some items sent USPS (postal service) get through without any customs charges but none do if sent by UPS, FedEx, DHL, or any of the other commercial carriers.

So then you have to weigh the amount in savings from abroad/shipping/exchange rate vs. what customs is going to charge and whether or not they decide to.

No wonder my landlord wants to stay in the US another year. :)

The difference is

Madison Pontoon Boat in the UK 351.50 GBP with postage

Madison pontoon boat on US Ebay 120.00 GBP

That pays for the VAT and shipping with a bit to spare

They are like fishing from your favourite armchair and much more stable than a boat. You couldn't fall out of one if you tried ( and I have tried)

The problem is they are only really useful for fly fishing, spinning or baitcasting. You cant really find anywhere to put the bivvy and the rod pod :)

I would like to go ahead and buy one of these for Pike fishing this year.

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Colorado-Pontoon-B...1742.m153.l1262

Problem is the sellers with the best prices don't always deliver to UK so is there anyone who would be kind enough to take delivery in the States and then forward it on to me. I of course will pay all charges.

Thanks in anticipation

Dave

The seller of the auction listing in question would be more than willing to ship the Colorado to you at the least cost possible. I only charge exact shipping. I do not know much about the fees you must pay at the border but whatever I can do to help let me know. It cost me abot 35 dollars to list these boats and recieve payment through ebay. I would rather see the customers get that savings contact me if you are interested in any of my items and let me know how I can help As for the shipping to France?( that is unblievably high - I know) Thats the exact quote by UPS. I have figured it by USPS but you would have too split the package into two seperate boxes and save 100.00 on shipping. I would have to have it shipped to me in oder to do that. If it will save you money I will do it. I used to mark items as gifts and that would help on the border tax?(thats what I call it)

let me know how to help
